Carolus Vitalis was named a fellow of the National Science Foundation’s National Research Traineeship in Integrated Data Science in 2023, on entering the University of Colorado Boulder’s Interdisciplinary Quantitative Biology (IQ Biology) program.
IQ Biology, run through CU Boulder’s BioFrontiers Institute, trains graduate students to bring quantitative methods, from physics, computer science, mathematics, and engineering, to biological problems. The traineeship supports fellows in the program; for Vitalis it backed his first year and set his work on AI-assisted genetic design within an interdisciplinary cohort.
